ALGARY (CP) - Cassie Campbell has been named captain of the Canadian women's hockey team for a second Olympic Games.
The 32-year-old forward from Brampton, Ont., wore the `C' in 2002 when Canada won the gold medal in Salt Lake City.
Campbell has played in seven world championship and two Olympic Games for Canada. She has served as captain of the team for world championships and other international tournaments since 2001, and has 32 goals and 63 assists in 149 career games.
Hockey Canada also announced Saturday that forwards Hayley Wickenheiser and Vicky Sunohara will serve as her assistants as they did in 2002.
Sunohara and Wickenheiser have also played in seven world championships and both Olympic Games. Sunohara, a 35-year-old from Toronto, has 51 goals and 52 assists in 143 games for the national team.
Wickenheiser, a 27-year-old from Shaunavon, Sask., leads Canada all-time in goals with 104 and assists with 116 in 160 games.
The Canadian team departs Sunday for Italy.
